• Alice Lotion 0.05% helps treat head lice.
• Use it on the hair and scalp only. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, mouth, and vagina. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
• Your hair and scalp must be dry before using Alice Lotion 0.05%. Apply the medicine closest to the scalp first and then outwards to the ends of your hair.
• Leave it for 10 minutes and then rinse it off completely with warm water. Comb hair with a fine-toothed comb to remove dead lice and nits.
• Wash all recently worn or used clothing, bedding, towels, and hairbrushes in hot water.
• Inform your doctor if live lice are seen 7 days or more after treatment. Do not use it again without talking first with your doctor.

It is indicated for the topical treatment of head lice infestations in patients 6 months of age and older.

✔️ Pharmacology

Ivermectin belongs to the abamectin family of drugs. Its primary mechanism of action involves selectively binding to and having a high affinity for glutamate chloride channels, which are present in the nerve and muscle cells of invertebrates. This binding leads to increased permeability of the cell membrane to chloride ions, resulting in hyperpolarization of the nerve or muscle cells. As a consequence, the parasite experiences paralysis and eventually dies.

These compounds, including ivermectin, can also interact with other ligand-activated chloride channels, such as those activated by the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). The selective activity of these compounds is attributed to the absence of glutamate chloride channels in certain mammals, the low affinity of abamectin for mammalian ligand chloride channels, and the limited ability of ivermectin to cross the human blood-brain barrier.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Alice Lotion 0.05%

Dosage

This is only for topical use in scalp & scalp hair. It is not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use. Ivermectin Lotion should be applied to dry hair in an amount sufficient to thoroughly coat the hair and scalp. Keep lotion on the hair and scalp for 10 minutes, and then rinse off with water. The tube is intended for single use; any unused portion should be discarded. Contact with eyes should be avoided.

Administration

• Your hair and scalp must be completely dry before applying Ivermectin Lotion
• Apply Ivermectin Lotion directly to dry hair and scalp.
• Completely cover your scalp and hair closest to the scalp first, and then apply outwards towards the ends of your hair.
• Rub Ivermectin Lotion throughout your hair.
• It is important to completely cover your entire head so that all lice and eggs are exposed to the lotion. Be sure that each hair is coated from the scalp to the tip.
• Use sufficient quantities to completely cover hair & scalp (for shorter hair, 60 gm or 1 tube may be sufficient, but for longer hair, up to 120 gm or 2 tubes may be required).
• Allow Ivermectin Lotion to stay on your hair and scalp for 10 minutes after it has been applied. Start timing after you have completely covered your hair and scalp with Ivermectin Lotion.
• After 10 minutes, completely rinse Ivermectin Lotion from your hair and scalp using only water.
• After the application of Ivermectin Lotion, you or anyone who helps you to apply the lotion should wash your hands properly.

Tell your doctor if you are applying for or have recently taken any other medicines including medicines obtained without a prescription, vitamin supplements,s or herbal products.

✔️ Contraindications

If you are allergic to Ivermectin or any of the ingredients of Alice Lotion 0.05%.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy Category C. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. It should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Caution should be exercised when this lotion is administered to a nursing woman.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• To prevent accidental ingestion, it is crucial to administer ivermectin only to pediatric patients under the direct supervision of an adult. In the event of accidental poisoning, appropriate supportive therapy should be provided based on the specific indications.
• Supportive therapy for accidental poisoning with ivermectin may involve various measures. These can include administering parenteral fluids and electrolytes to maintain hydration and balance, providing respiratory support such as oxygen and mechanical ventilation if necessary, and administering pressor agents if there is clinically significant hypotension (low blood pressure).
• If ingestion has occurred, induction of emesis (inducing vomiting) and/or gastric lavage (washing out the stomach) should be considered as soon as possible. Additionally, the use of purgatives (substances that induce bowel movements) and other routine anti-poison measures may be indicated to prevent absorption of the ingested material.
• It is important to note that in case of accidental poisoning, immediate medical attention should be sought, and the specific management plan should be determined by healthcare professionals based on the individual circumstances and severity of the poisoning.
